I’ve mentioned more than once around here that I don’t do hostels and I don’t schlep my luggage on the subway 🙂 But that doesn’t mean I’m not interested in budget travel destinations! In fact, I actually thrive on finding places that could actually be considered budget travel destinations. I simply “ditch” the hostel and still find ways to have an affordable stay. And more than one of these destinations is actually on my own personal travel bucket list.
18 Budget Travel Destinations Where You Can Still Save Big
So I love seeing timely articles on “budget friendly” places. Even if they do mention using accommodations that I wouldn’t personally use. And hey, I’m not saying it’s bad to use hostels. Many of them are actually much nicer than you might think. I’m just saying that I have reached a point in my own life where I don’t consider that type of accommodation. The truth is, I love hotels and having some of the services they offer available to me if I want them.
Ditch the Hostel
I found one of those articles today. 18 different countries where you could probably live “big” on less than $50 USD per day. If you stay in a hostel! Well, I can assure you that if you ditch the hostel in any of these 18 destinations you’ll still be able to find a way to save big. You just need to know where to find reasonable accommodations, food and activities. And that’s not at all hard if you know where and what to look for.
Some of the countries on this list are not unexpected. Meaning that you might expect that they would be inexpensive destinations. A few, though, were surprising and not necessarily places you would expect to find on a list of “under $50 per day” destinations.
Here’s a link directly to the article so you check out the surprising and not so surprising places that are included in this list of budget travel destinations.
Ever been to any of these? If so, drop me a comment and let me know how your experience was.
